The three things I enjoy most are thinking, creating, and problem solving. I enjoy thinking about everything, from the pure logic in mathematics and philosophy to the much more practical see-and-try approach in engineering and science. I enjoy all forms of creation, whether its the "creation-for-creations-sake" mentality of art, or the "how-do-I-make-something-which-solves-a-particular-problem" mentality of entrepreneurship. And lastly, I enjoy all forms of problem solving, including the practical writing of code, or the entertaining optimization of game-decisions. Obviously, there are places where these three things overlap; in fact, in most things they probably do. But there are also places where they don't, and I enjoy them all nonetheless.
Code. Given my interests, I doubt its surprising that most of what I do ends up being code in some way, shape, or form. I am currently empoloyed as a Data Scientist on the Physical Access Control team at Microsoft. This mainly entails facial recognition as a form of access control from live-time video. In addition to that, I am one of the acting Computer Vision Leads for Advanced Robotics at the University of Washington, which is a student association which competes in the annual DJI Robomasters competition. As a hobby, I like to develop games, and I've working on my first game, an original idea which I've tenatively named Eternium, a top-down open world tactical RPG.
A lot of the stuff I do is shared across many different sites and software, so I wanted a place where I could showcase everything I've done. This is a portfolio, but I also intend to include some way to express my thoughts, as well as other more hobby-ish projects. Of course, a lot of what I am interested in is related to technology in some form or another, so I suppose a good number of these projects would be considered for such a portfolio.
